SILMIYA - A Concert In Love And Solidarity for Sudan.
Sun Jun 23, 13:00 - Sun Jun 23, 22:00
Newtown Music Factory (Old Bassline Building).
ABOUT
A gesture of love and solidarity from Artists in South Africa.
‘SILMIYA’ means ‘peaceful’ in Arabic.
This is one of the popular chants that have characterized the Sudanese Revolution.
The events unfolding in Khartoum are a tragic human rights violation.
This concert is an attempt to amplify the voices of people who are killed while protesting peacefully. They continue to be in danger as the death toll rises and women and children are being raped.
For these injustices we trying to do our bit to raise awareness of the plight of our beloved brothers and sisters in Sudan.
The aim of the benefit concert is to raise money for food , water and much needed medical supplies and assistance.
More importantly it is to say we see you and stand with you in these trying times or brutality and tragedy. We will wear blue and sing songs of outrage and comfort.
Let’s use the event page as a way to communicate , volunteer, share ideas and make plans. Any and all help welcome.
LOOKING FORWARD TO SHARING THE LINE-UP TOMORROW...
