Evita se Perron in association with The Fugard Theatre proudly bring you the 14th edition of Voorkamerfest.

Annually the Voorkamerfest takes place in Darling, the first weekend in September.. Bookings open 1 July. 

This unique event comprises of concerts held in the “voorkamers” (front rooms) of the homes of Darling residents.

The element of excitement and surprise for visitors are - that you do not know which three houses you will visit neither do you know which artists you will see.

One ticket will get you onto one route where you will see three diverse performances in three diverse homes in three different districts of Darling.

Taxi departure times: (it is essential that you collect your tickets at least an hour before taxi departure time to avoid missing your ride)

·         Friday 17H00 - R 210

·         Saturday 12H00 - R 270

·         Saturday 17H00 - R 270

·         Sunday 12H00 - R 270

This year R10 of every ticket sold is donated to the projects and programmes of The Darling Trust - www.thedarlingtrust.org

Group bookings are possible; no reductions. Please be aware members of your group might see different shows on different routes.

Arrival should be an hour before your taxi departs from Evita se Perron, Arcadia Street in Darling. But do come earlier and enjoy the market with local fare and trade stalls!

Everything related to your route which you have booked is colour coded - you receive a colour coded wristband which indicates the taxi rank you need to queue at which will take you to your colour coded theatre homes Darling town. Follow the signs to the box office to collect your wrist bands where you will receive further information regarding the taxi rank.

The taxis take you to 3 theatre homes where it is guaranteed you will be well entertained by the fabulous line-up of performing arts of all disciplines. You will see 3 different 30 minute shows in 3 different venues. If you decide to go on a 2nd or 3rd route please book at the booking office tent. Seats are limited so we suggest you book for the whole weekend asap - you could see a total of 12 different shows.

Very important that you be sure not to book the same colour route in order to ensure you see different shows every time!

Performances range from dance, music (classical, jazz, world), poetry, stand-up comedy, circus, mime, drama or cabaret. The venues and performers are different every year and remain a surprise until you arrive!

Evita se Perron has a restaurant & bar, in addition there is also a bar & eatery tent at the market in Dolce Evita's Piazza with various food, beverage & craft stalls. Take a walk around Evita se Perron with its boere-kitsch memorabilia & Boerassic Park. The Main Road which is within walking distance, has a number of excellent eateries who are waiting for your visit!

Don’t forget:

·         No alcohol or smoking permitted on the taxis or in the theatre venues

·         The colour coded tickets are dated - please check your tickets when you receive them.

Other activities:

·         Sunday at 4pm: Annually some of the artists who have performed over the weekend, graciously volunteer to do 5 minutes of their show free at an Open Air Performance in Darling East - this ends up being a vibrant performance with the artists, jamming and sharing with local talent alike. A great way to end an exciting weekend - open to everyone, entrance is free!

·         The Voorkamerfest Food & Craft Market, coordinated by I Love Yzer, at Evita se Perron will be even more vibrant this year - relax & absorb the local spirit which Darling has to offer.
