Dr Sindi's hospital bill

Doctor Sindi van Zyl, who you may know as a life-giving friend, inspirational Doctor or DJ, was my wife. She was diagnosed with COVID-19 at the beginning of the year, was admitted to hospital in February and after almost 8 weeks in ICU passed away on Saturday 10 April.

This donation page was set up to help raise the funds required to be able to pay the medical bills that are not fully determined yet (we haven't received all the bills yet), but it is approximately R1.72 million at this time.

As a family we have been humbled by the donations received. Sindi dedicated her life to helping many people. She knew from the age of 4 that she always wanted to help people as a medical doctor, and when she needed help herself at this difficult time, she received it from those whose lives she impacted. 

We are grateful for the donations continuing to come in. All donations will be used firstly to pay any outstanding medical bills. Hospital and other Medical costs paid up until now have been approximately 1.72 million Rand.

A Foundation to continue to support the causes that Sindi so passionately believed in, and lived out will be announced in due course to see Sindi’s legacy live on. In the event that there are any funds left over, it will be used as starting capital for the Foundation.
