WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course is designed for, and aimed at individuals involved with environmental management/environmental monitoring during the construction phase of a project. This would typically be Safety officers who also have to fulfil the role of an Environmental officer or any site representative that will have the responsibility of looking after environmental matters.

  3. Environmental Documentation, Record Keeping and Reporting and Method Statement Compilation;
  4. Roles and Responsibilities;
  5. Site Establishment and Demarcation Requirements;
  6. Management of Hazardous Substances;
  7. Concrete Management;
  8. Traffic and Access Control;
  9. Topsoil & Stockpiling;
  10. Air Quality Management;
  11. Fire Management;
  12. Sanitation Requirements;
  13. Ground and Surface Water pollution;
  14. Soil Erosion & Stormwater Management;
  15. Fauna & Flora Management;
  16. Noise Management;
  17. Waste Management;
  18. Social Aspects and the Management thereof;
  19. Management of Heritage Resources; and
  20. Rehabilitation activities.


The course will also touch on basic legislative requirements that needs to be consider during the construction phase of a project.


AIM

This course has been developed with the specific intention of providing individuals with the necessary skills to implement an Environmental Management programme (EMPr) on a construction project. On completion of the course, attendees will be able to identify and manage environmental documentation, understand the different roles and responsibilities associated with the implementation of the EMPr, be familiar with record keeping and reporting requirements (completion of incident registers and reports, compilation of method Statement etc.) and be familiar with management/mitigation measures to be implemented for environmental aspects such as site establishment and demarcation, hazardous substances, concrete, traffic and access, topsoil & stockpiling, air quality, fire, sanitation, ground and surface water, soil erosion & stormwater management, fauna & flora, noise, waste management, social aspects, heritage aspects and rehabilitation.
