JOHANNESBURG OPERA presents 'THE ROYAL HEROINES IN OPERA AND SONG'.

South Africa celebrates National Women's Day on 09 August. The day commemorates the 1956 march of approximately 20,000 women to the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

To celebrate this special day and Women's Month, Johannesburg Opera presents 'HEROINES IN OPERA AND SONG'.

Johannesburg Opera is planning a Woman's Concert series 'Heroines in Opera and Song' on Friday, 11 August in Pretoria and Sunday, 13 August in Johannesburg.

On Friday, 11 August at the Nazareth House in Pretoria, the audience will be entertained by the Internationally acclaimed Bongiwe Nakani Mcetywa one the leading South African (mezzo-soprano) who sang at the Vienna State Opera and well-known Classical Vocal Duo The Opera Angels (comprising British mezzo-soprano, Lindsay Thomson and soprano/pianist Dr Lisa Engelbrecht).

They will perform songs from Princes Magogo (Khumalo/Klatzow), arias from Verdi’s Don Carlos, duets from Le nozze di Figaro, Lakmé, Little Women, West Side Story and more...

And on Sunday, 13 August at the Northwards House, the internationally acclaimed Bongiwe Nakani Mcetywa (mezzo-soprano) and Khayakazi Madlala (soprano), accompanied by Dr Lisa Engelbrecht (Head Coach at OperaUCT) will entertain our audience in Johannesburg with Royal Heroines in Opera and Song. This event's ticket will be R300 and R220 for the side view seats (including canapes and wine). 

They will entertain you with songs from Princess Magogo, Quilter’s Elizabethan song cycle, Verdi’s Don Carlos and Aida.
