About

BARRYDALE IN BLOOM 2024

ABOUT

Join us for a fun and exciting Klein Karoo weekend getaway from 18 to 20 October during Barrydale's annual charity fundraising event where the community comes together to showcase its diverse gardens to raise money for Barrydale Hospice.

NEW

Make your visit to this magical town longer and attend some of the workshops during the week prior to the festival! Our famous Magpie Art Collection will host a workshop over three afternoons (15 - 17 Oct) on how to make flowers from recycled plastic bottles. And three local chefs will do cooking demonstrations over those three mornings. Friday starts with a 5 km mountain hike, a show and tell snake talk by expert Gerrie Heyns, and a wine tasting at our award winning Joubert-Tradauw wine vineyards before the evenings program starts at 17h with our beloved local rieldansers. A first for this year is a fairy throne competition where locals and budding artists from neighbouring towns can get super creative!

Yamú Botanicals will do a tasting of botanical extracts on Saturday afternoon. And, to start Saturday evening, you can enjoy champagne and canapés at Die Langhuis with Gert van de Merwe and Jaco van Rensburg. Saturday evening there is a music festival with Illana at Joubert-Tradauw (tickets also on Quicket, look for Joubert-Tradauw Barrydale in Bloom)

WHERE

The main festivities take place at Karoolkie Cellar in the center of town.

Saturday and Sunday there will be a bustling garden market with lots of food stalls, a tea garden with fabulous local herbal teas and home made cakes, and very interesting talks. Our main speaker is Misha Teasdale, who has been restoring and protecting forests for more than a decade. Read the full programme on our website www.barrydaleinbloom.com and see what we are up to on our instagram @barrydaleinbloom.

GALA DINNER

Friday evening we start the weekend with a gin tasting from our local distillery Metanoia before our Forage & Feast Gala Dinner in the Karoolkie Cellar. The vibrant painting of local artist Michelle Berry, The Garden, that is used in this year's poster will be auctioned during the course of the evening as well as all the fairy thrones. All proceeds go to Barrydale Hospice.

The full weekend ticket of R800 includes the Metanoia gin tasting, Forage & Feast Gala Dinner, Map Booklet with the programme and map to all the participating gardens, art studios and galleries, as well as entrance to all the talks.
