The Mzansi Theatre Project Advancement was established in 2009 as a Non-Profit performing Arts Organization. Mzansi Theatre Projects is led by the able leadership of Ndumiso Mazibuko, who holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Drama and Theatre Studies, Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Applied Drama; Theatre-In-Education, communities and social Contexts and is currently completing BA Honours in Cultural Policy and Management at the University of Witwatersrand.
Based in Pietermaritzburg, Mzansi Theatre Project Advancement is a full-time professional theatre organization with more than 10 years of experience in delivering world-class performances, Theatre-In-Education, and Venue Management in the KwaZulu Natal Province. The organization tours to the Western Cape, KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng, and has produced highly professional original theatre works. Mzansi Theatre Projects successfully delivered the Actor Collaborative Training Programme which started in 2020 where a total of 6 students graduated from the programme with a zero budget and in 2021 a total of 12 youth graduated from the programme with the funding from the National Arts Council of South Africa. Under COVID19, Mzansi Theatre Projects also organised and successfully delivered Activate Theatre Festival and Conference which employed 10 theatre productions from KZN and Johannesburg. These two projects translated to more than 100 jobs.
Mzansi Theatre has its Theatre Plays published in a compilation of New South African Theatre Scripts by Dr Emma Durden. The organization has a beautiful track record in implementing projects successfully. Over the years the organization has been funded by other funding bodies and completed projects, companies like Arts and Culture Trust, The Playhouse Company, Pietermaritzburg Department of Arts Office, and The National Arts Council of South Africa to name a few.
