About

I have been working with wood since young, and have been carving it (at first with chisels, and more recently with knives) for the last 6 years. It is my passion to share and grow this ancient art form, and to give people a little bit of a "deeper" insight into trees, through their wood.

South Africa has populations of some of the most wonderful woods in the world, from our legendary indigenous timbers, which are often a treat to carve, to the exotic (often invasive) species that offer us a wonderful opportunity to learn on.I aim to host a variety of species' woods to carve from, so that attendees can experience soft to hard woods.Wood species available are subject to yearly weather patterns, as most is storm-fallen timber.

"I love Connor's class's The freedom to choose your wood and subject and be totally open to experiment and still having his attention with a regular check in to see how you doing and give guidance on which tools would be best suited or demonstrating techniques to get the desired result. In two workshops I have improved a lot and built a lot more confidence - looking foward to the next one. "

"It was a delightful, informative, creative experience spent in a lush garden. Connor is an outstanding facilitator. It was satisfying to invest a decent portion of time crafting my first wooden object and learning more about trees and woodworking tools. I wholeheartedly recommend it! "
