What happens during a Solstice?

The summer solstice occurs at the moment the earth's tilt toward/from the sun is at a maximum. Therefore, on the day of the summer solstice, the sun appears at its highest elevation with a noontime position that changes very little for several days before and after the summer solstice.

The “Cry of the Wolf” Poison Centre:

1. Define the Mission and Vision

Mission: To provide immediate care and rehabilitation for pets affected by poisoning, offering expert medical attention and long-term care to ensure full recovery.

Vision: To be a trusted sanctuary for poisoned pets, where they can receive the highest standard of care, rehabilitation, and love, while also educating pet owners on prevention and early detection.

2. Establish a Facility

Location: Identify a suitable location within TerraLuna that can be converted into a rehabilitation centre. Ensure it's accessible and has the necessary infrastructure (clean water, electricity, and emergency access).

Facilities: Equip the centre with veterinary equipment, isolation wards for severe cases, a general recovery area, and spaces for physical therapy and rehabilitation exercises.

3. Partnerships and Collaboration

Veterinarians: Partner with local vets who specialize in toxicology and animal rehabilitation. Create a network of on-call specialists for emergencies.

Suppliers: Collaborate with suppliers for medical supplies, antidotes, and high-quality pet food.

Animal Welfare Organizations: Work with local and national animal welfare organizations to gain support, referrals, and possibly funding.

4. Staffing

Veterinary Professionals: Hire or collaborate with experienced veterinarians, veterinary nurses, and technicians.

Rehabilitation Specialists: Employ specialists in animal rehabilitation, including physiotherapists and behavioural therapists.

Volunteers: Engage volunteers to help with day-to-day operations, from feeding and cleaning to providing comfort to recovering pets.

5. Funding and Sustainability

Fundraising Campaigns: Launch fundraising campaigns to gather the initial capital needed to establish the centre. Crowdfunding, grants, and donations are viable options.

Memberships and Donations: Offer a membership program where supporters can contribute regularly in exchange for updates, naming rights for recovery rooms, or other incentives.

Services: Offer paid services like boarding for recovering pets, consultations, and preventive care workshops to generate income.

6. Education and Prevention

Workshops and Seminars: Educate the community on common poisons, symptoms to watch for, and immediate actions to take. Host regular workshops and seminars.

Awareness Campaigns: Use social media, flyers, and local community outreach to spread awareness about pet poisoning and how to prevent it.

7. Legal and Regulatory Compliance

Licensing: Obtain the necessary licenses and permits to operate a veterinary and rehabilitation centre.

Health and Safety: Implement strict health and safety protocols to prevent the spread of contagious     diseases and ensure the well-being of staff and animals.

Insurance: Ensure that the facility and its operations are fully insured.

8. Marketing and Outreach

Social Media Campaigns: Leverage TerraLuna’s existing social media channels to spread the word. Share success stories, educational content, and ongoing needs.

Community Events: Host events at TerraLuna to raise awareness and funds for the center.

Partnerships: Collaborate with local businesses, schools, and community groups to spread awareness and gain support.

9. Monitoring and Evaluation

Tracking Success: Keep detailed records of every case, including outcomes and follow-ups. Use this data to assess the effectiveness of your interventions.

Continuous Improvement: Regularly review your practices and protocols to ensure they are up to date and effective.

10. Future Expansion

Mobile Units: Consider adding mobile units to reach remote areas where pets might not have immediate access to care.

Research and Development: Invest in R&D to stay updated on the latest in veterinary toxicology and rehabilitation practices.

This centre could become a vital part of TerraLuna’s mission, combining care, education, and community involvement to make a real difference in the lives of pets and their owners.
