RISE Africa

RISE Africa is convened by Changing Cities, ICLEI Africa and partners. It is a movement of urban thinkers, doers, and enablers committed to inspiring action for sustainable cities. Since May 2020, RISE Africa has hosted varied virtual events, published provocative thought-pieces and lectures, and convened photo showcases, all surrounding the annual action festivals. Through creative discourse on complex, interwoven issues of equity and sustainability in African cities, the platform engages a growing community. By connecting actors across sectors and disciplines, RISE Africa sparks new ways of thinking, being and doing. Together, the RISE Africa community represents those taking bold, unapologetic actions on equity, sustainability, and shared prosperity. We seek unexpected collaborations, combining novel technologies with everyday practices to honour Kwame Nkrumah’s call to "find African solutions to African problems."
