Jewish Democratic Initiative Johannesburg

The Jewish Democratic Initiative (JDI) is an organisation which represents those who strive for an inclusive and tolerant South African Jewish community, allowing space for a diverse range of approaches to societal challenges. We advocate for a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The JDI remains committed to a home for Jews in Israel-Palestine as well as to freedom and sovereignty for Palestinians and we are willing to explore any solutions that provide security and dignity to both peoples.

The JDI was formed in 2017 as a non-profit community based organisation. It is a forum for Jews in South Africa who are critical of the current Israeli government, the occupation of the West Bank, and the extent of IDF destruction of civilian lives in Gaza and anti-humanitarian behaviour.
